Umm...Questions? Ch.2BNW

I have a few questions about chapter two...

I did not understand one bit of the D.H.C.'s explanation of 'consume transport'; from " 'Quite a lot,' the D.H.C. replied...," to "...'So that they consume manufacturedarticles as well as transport. Hence tose electric shocks.' " p.23.
This makes no sense to me.

What is the T-Model the Director describes? Does it have to do with being male? p.25

What is meant when the D.H.C. says, " 'Moral education, which ought never, in any circumstances, to be rational.' "? p.26 The previous paragraph was about the Nile River.

  1. Breanna, I don't imagine anyone is going to want to go back and talk you through the book, line by line. Maybe your best strategy is to RELAX a little, get into the story a little more? Think "big picture." You say "this book has always confused me" in your previous post -- so you've read it before?

Have you read the blog? There have been many Brave New discussions on the blog this summer. Another idea if you are still just befuddled by the whole thing...do the Annotated Webography, and read the websites that I've assigned.

Just curious: Have you read Postman yet? Orwell? I consider Huxley to be the easiest to understand of the three texts.

You may want to read some of the things I wrote in response to a post entitled "Cobwebs?"

  2. Yes, AFletcher, have read it before, and i have read Postman. That was easier to understand. But I will do what you suggest.
    Thank you.
