Is it hard work or just plain luck?
Today i was talking to one of my friends about where he wanted to go for lunch since we were out. He suggested McDonald's and i jokingly said,"Ha! Why go there they're already billionaires. They don't need our money." He then got into some detail saying how he read a book where it said how McDonald's became rich and widely popular. He said the McDonald brothers sold it to a man by the name of Ray Croc for about 2.5 million dollars. Obviously he would become a very rich man in the years to come. Some people who are rich work very hard to get there such as Bill Gates, the creator of Microsoft. He worked very hard to get where he is right now. Also think of Pop sensation Justin Bieber. One day he was an ordinary kid very much like ourselves then one day Poof! he was on the radio everywhere and its now rich and famous. So my question here is if getting to the top is Hard work, Luck, or maybe a little of both?

Could you explain the relevance of this to Postman or Huxley?
ReplyDeleteI would say that appeal, accessibility, hard work, and promotion are all a part of getting your restaurant or your music in the limelight. "Being at the right place at the right time" or "luck" are both payoffs from your appeal, accessibility, hard work, and self-promossion.
ReplyDelete*promotion.
ReplyDeleteMark, I was wondering the same thing. What does this have to do with what we're doing, Justin? The blog posts have to make some connection to our summer reading.
