There's been a lot of talk on the blog about illegal drug use as it relates to Brave New World. There is no illegal drug use in Brave New World. Soma is legal, and sanctioned by the World State.
Antidepressants are the most prescribed drug in the United States. Feeling a little sad? A little uneasy? Anyone can easily find a doctor who will prescribe something for that.

Wow! That is very interesting Miss Fletcher. Thank you for sharing. Considering how easy it is to obtain drugs, or antidepressants, I ponder over the thought of whether it will get out of hand. Rather than feeling uneasy I am actually intrigued by the direction this situation is heading. What are your thoughts on this? Many have spoken of their fear or concern of the society depicted in Brave New World. Their fears may be closer than they believe it to be.
