As I finished reading Amusing Ourselves To Death, it made me think about how some people are completely consumed by the media. But it was through a conversation I had with a friend recently that made me realize, that I am one of the many people manipulated by the media.
Me: I don't know what to write my next blog about
Friend: Hey why don't you do what I did? Try relating it to anime.
Me: Wow that's a great idea.
At that time I didn't really think about how it concerned me, but it was some latter thought on it that I realized that I too, am a victim of manipulation by the media. It is because through the media that my life has revolved around anime. For example, every year, the city of L.A. has this convention specifically for anime named, Anime Expo (a.k.a AX). At AX, there are many products for various animes such as plushies, toys, artwork, etc., and as a person who is exposed to and watches anime, it becomes more so that because I watch anime, I have to buy as much as I can, and become a consumer of anime. And because of this, it is becoming a problem for me. I'm not saying that this is entirely a bad thing, but I feel as though that sometime soon, anime may consume my entire life and cause me to amuse myself to death as Postman said.
Happy birthday, Half-Life 2!

Writing about anime didn't work for your friend, either.
