No Chance Society
Brave New World's fictional utopian society opened my eyes to a new outlook on my life. This grasped my attention in the middle of Chapter 1 were Mr.Foster says that, "We decant our babies as socializied human beings, as Aplhas or Epsilons, as future sewage workers or future..." He was going to say "future World controllers," but correcting himself, said "future Directors of Hatcheries," instead. Basically these machine born people are born into an unusual caste system with no freedom to pursue to become better. The main reason this had an impact on me was because it was our Independence Day only a few days ago. Sure we all had fun celebrating with our families and friends by lighting fireworks and having barbecues, but I believe for the most part we didn't even think of what a great country we live in that has the main principle of freedom. We have a choice and ability to do almost anything. Our possibilties are endless in this country, and sad to say that this "fictional" societies' laws are real in many parts around the world such as Cuba and North Korea. Although this novel does explain that our kind of lifestyle is unstable which Mustapha Mond brings up several times, there would not have been a society to start with if there was no freedom to think and do. All the great inventors and people who shaped the world and this country would have never done what they did because they would not have had the freedom to do so. And it is true that right now our country is unstable, but because of the freedom we possess someday it will become stable again.

Your correct in saying this country was built around freedom. Freedom is what we, as a country, strive for but is eveyrone really free? Do homeless people have the same rights a middle class citizen has? I've witnessed a homeless person being escorted out of a restauraunt for no reason but entering the doors. President Obama has to sign a bill stating that woman and men would be payed equal wages in 2009. It's crazy to think that it took our country so long to pay woman and men the same. It is illegal for 10% of californians to be married, is that freedom? Althoght we are not completely free, thia gives us more of a reason to continue striving tword it.
